But if it is *all* genetic, why the sharp increase? That cannot be explained by genetics. Keep in mind we are not talking just about diabetes here, but Crohn's disease, asthma, rheumatoid arthritis, multiple sclerosis, etc. We are not talking about research dollars that would otherwise be going into pig islets.
