It basically comes down to two things, the commonly held medical belief, and the propoganda surrounding it.
When a parent is told that their kid has developing MD, they are told to hold onto hope, because science is advancing rapidly, and doctors hope to have a cure soon.
When a patient or parent is told about developing diabetes, they are told in no uncertain terms that there is NO CURE, there is ONLY treatment.
Now, if you were a celebrity, looking to back a cause that 'had hope' of 'really' providing a solution, given the information you have, would you choose the underdog, or the sure thing???
Either that, or the MDA actually has some integrity, and all of their donations actually go to worthwhile research. After all, who wouldn't want to donate to an organization that was actually working FOR a CURE!!!
My two cents,
Spark
