Dennis, good try with the Gates Foundation, but boy is the response that "type 1 diabetes currently falls outside the foundation's program guidlines. The administrator said the foundation instead focuses on life threatening global health problems in the developing world..." so very frustrating.
Check out the link to the world health organization stating a worldwide diabetes epidemic is underway. 177 million have it in 2000 and its projected to increase to 370 million by 2030. Granted a lot of that diabetes is type II, but whatever, what an enormous impact the foundation could make to worldwide health if they invested in diabetes research to cure this damn thing. I would say diabetes easily qualifies as a life threatening global problem for sure
