Don't bet the farm on Amylin (symlin). The study results have not been impressive enough. Yes, the shots can not be combined with insulin (as of yet) and would require another shot or two per day. It doesn't change the Hba1c very much (maybe only .3-.6 average person) and their are other investigated products that may affect this measure (HbA1c) even more so. Look at clinical studies done with high amounts of Vitamin C, Vitamin E, and especially (I think) vitamin B6 in amounts of 50-75 mg taken in two to three doses of about 25mg in each dose. A toxicologist would remind you to look at elevated doses of vitamin B6 over long periods (2-3 yrs or more)and any possible negative effects on the nervous system, but almost all of these studies have used 400-500 mg OR MORE per day for yrs at a time. It should be easy to find all of this info on the internet. Take the time to find and read the studies though.
