One point of counter-correction I would offer quickly is that lend-lease only amounted to 10% of Soviet munitions during the war, and most of that was only used for training purposes since it was not compatible with the majority of Soviet equipment.
There is a deeper problem with capitalism, however, and that is its moral dimension, whatever its purported efficiencies. If you were with a number of people on a liferaft after your ship had sunk, and you knew that the total number of fish the group could catch would be larger if you made a rule that people could only eat the fish they caught themselves, would it be morally right introducing this rule, even though it meant that the injured, the elderly, and the incompetent would starve to death or become severely ill?
