I can not comment on when future products will be available since they are regulated by FDA and every time I have tried to predict an FDA response I have been wrong and in both directions. The artificial pancreas is something I have been working on for a long time, and the algorithm is a significant part of the difficulty. I certainly see the possibility of a system that uses external pumps with analog insulin partially controlled by subcutaneous glucose sensors measuring interstitial glucose. The kinetics are fast enough (in my opinion) to make this work in real time.
