I happen to think that the Gay Community decided to take the
shortest route to get the undivided attention of those who
hold the puse strings - it is my feeling they felt they could only go up. Appealing to politicals who actually held them in distain for their way of life - but publically had to give lip
service to the ideal of equal rights could mean you have caught the pols in a compromising position. Add to that the fact that
careless social relations impacts a far greater % of society and by then most of society knew that it was possible to CATCH
AIDS if you were careless in your gay or straight life. That Spells FEAR. Since Gays are in every segment of society - it mean the everyone could be vulnerable.

Enter the classic Type 2 - likely over weight, likely feeling
no so great and not knowing why - you know the kind who eat and do all manner of things the Diabetic Police rant about and tell you how any one who really cares can have perfect BGs. This uninformed group will conclude and tell you to your face - you DESERVE your fate. This so-called class of diabetics has the potential to be the largest disease group - and for the sake
of walking daily they could have been perfect but since they didn't - they don't deserve to have their cause any higher than it is.

Now one thing MTM did say - and bless her - was that the complications are the same for Type 1 AND 2. But can you say a child DESERVES their diabetic fate - no. So even within the Diabetic Community we have two classes. Mary's main cause last night was children with Type 1

So we have pols who simply out of fear of being on the wrong side of an issue found the money for Aids and those inflicted while others decided to be in their face. As well, those with AIDs decided to demand drugs that may have been in the pipeline any if the drugs demonstrated in any positive way to be useful - they got them because the noise was too great if they didn't.

The vast majority of people do not FEAR getting Diabetes because they have lived the perfect life and besides you can't catch it via careless social contacts. Diabetics, with the exception of children with Type 1, very likely deserve their fate. So with this mentality - we slide down the food chain.

UNtil we push and pull our limbless and blind through the streets we will not shock anyone into action - we will never
convince them that this show could come in the night to a member of their family.

We shouldn't wait until we get the right number of famous people with diabetes to carry the water for us. The famous
like Halle and MTM make Diabetes look easy - so why would they need help. Even Larry King - thinks Mary will be so much better once she gets a pump - it is just that easy to be perfect.

You may have heard it here first - we will have equality with drug users and AIDs as soon as they set up a free needle exchange for us.
