This is a product. It was developed to treat alcoholics. Apparently, alcolholics are deficient in thiamine. This is not the same as Benfotiamine, a synthetic vitamin B1 used in the study. This is not benfotiamine, but like benfotiamine it is fat soluble and may have the same efficacy.
Remember there is no proof that either drug has any efficacy for humans.
While this company is officed above a Dominos Pizza (see web site) it has received a $4million grant from the NIH for cocaine addiction so it seems to have some science behind it, but it is not claiming this can prevent diabetes complications.
