James: With all due respect...you know not of what you speak.

My daughter has been a patient in this practice for more than two years now, and the authors of this study are anything but 'merely academics'. They are members of a wonderful team which sees children and teens with diabetes and other endocrine disorders every day of the week, and whose philosophy and follow-through have made, and continue to make a difference in many lives.

They see patients ranging from the compliant to those who deny their disease and from those who are able to take first-hand control of their own treatment to those who need continuous help from medical professional.

Their caring philosophy and methodology is one that should be followed by EVERY ped endo across the country, not one that should be mocked as being academic drivel by some here who apparently are using the same psycho-babble that they accuse the authors of this study of employing. I, for one, hope that this article lights a fire under some ped endos to empower their patients.

I for one, consider myself very fortunate to have my daughter in their practice, and hope their model is emulated by many other practices around the world.
