I chat on line with parents of children with diabetes, and you'd be surprise how many are not offered this "empowerment" approach with their team of experts. Often those doctors tell their patients to follow it their way, and that's the end of it. There are ped endos still out there telling their patient's parents that there's a protective mechanism for children so don't worry about high blood glucose levels now, yada yada yada. I particularly liked this abstract and have high regard for Dr. Brink.
