Dennis, What you say makes perfect sense, except that I still had islets, as evidenced by the fact that I subsequently had a 6-year honeymoon period while taking nicotinamide. Perhaps the islets were near death, and hence the ICAs figured their work was done, but recovered to a certain extent when injected insulin let them rest somewhat. In any case, I have not heard of any practical consequence of the presence/absence of ICAs or IAAs in terms of treatment.
