Pauline,

We have always been conscious to present a positive, can-do attitude and way of life for our son--so as to not have him 'pity' himself for having diabetes-- and that it does not have to hinder anything he wants to do in life. Never have made him feel like it was a burden dealing with the high maintenance (as we are all too familiar with) life of having a child with diabetes. He has known no other lifestyle than this one, with a diagnosis at age 2, so there was no abrupt changes for him to cause intense stress/anxiety.

Instead, I've taken out my frustrations on the TIF board. (laugh laugh)

I like your philosophies and creative thinking in dealing with your child with diabetes.

From my readings (mainly one extremely thorough book recommended by the ped neurologist) "psychological manifestations" are not the cause of tics, but stressors can increase the intensity. Most speculation of causes of tics seem to strictly deal with genetic suscepibility--same as type 1 diabetes. That type of thinking fits neatly into the box, so why not go with that. ;)

Therese
