Al, I think one could reasonably say that Edmonton is a/the major center of islet cell transplantation, with the Edmonton protocol and all. Is there a similar medical "center" somewhere in the world that is leading the charge relative to xenotransplantation issues and diabetes? I would like to know and follow it more than I have in the past. I have followed this issue on the board a bit and have thought about some of the arguements I have read that without a ready source of islets, if a cure comes what use will it be? I just hope there are medical people in this field willing to push the envelope a bit and explore more wholeheartedly this line of inquiry.
