Does anyone know if it is this fear of some kind of virus that prevents insulin dependent diabetics from donating blood? I've tried to donate a few times and I've been given different reasons why I can't donate; (1) because I inject insulin and (2) because I may have used beef/pork insulin (which implies that I am at risk of somehow carrying this virus).
Anyone know the real reason?
