Mark:
The current political enviroment has seen to it that the use of tax dollars (Federal dollars) for reseach on fetal or embryo cells is prohibited, private research is not prohibited. Abortion and the discarding of embryo cells is perfectly legal in the US. It is not currently legal to sell the byproducts of the procedures for profit but they can be donated. (This prohibition has been effective made useless by the charging of fees that are about like charging for the product.) Cloning is not currently baned by law but the FDA effectively stopped human cloning and the legislative body have made it clear that they intent to stop the procedure through legislation. Some of the pro stem cell senators are anti-human cloning and it seems clear that there will be no cloning allowed in the US. If I can be of more help let me know.
