Whatever the result, whatever the politics, the fact remains:
This is a promising direction for research.
This is a possible source of islet cells.
As far as I understand American law, this is a legal form of gathering cells.
The United Kingdom has already decided to fund this research.
Up here in Canada, where the church is not so strong and most political parties are centrist, there's unlikely to be much opposition when this comes to question un the near future.
The research will happen, regardless of American input, and moral or not, I shall not be swayed by any pleas.
I have no moral qualms.
I'm for it, and I hope it works.
