With regard to Stem Cells: I am against Federal Funding of Stem cells. I have stated so here in the past and do so again so that you may be clear.

With regard to a cure: Are you suggesting that stem cells are a cure? I think the science has a long, long way to go to prove this. Note the article I posted on flawed cloning of embryonic mice. The mice were flawed, scientists think, because of improper protein expression even though they were indeed exact copies of the donor mice. This means two things for stem cell research. First, the protein formation of animals is poorly understood and as such the ability to transfigure stem cells with poorly understood proteins and to get them to function as an end product cell is a pipe dream IMHO. It will be at least a decade if not much, much longer than that. Second, even if successful, stem cells will not be accepted by our immune system. This means systemic immune suppression. This is an option I am not willing to take at this time. The other alternative will be to encapsulate cells, but if this works then why not use porcine cells? I just don't get it.

With regard to my interest in a cure: I have been visiting this site for years. I have a deep interest in a cure because I have type one diabetes, do you? How long have you posted here? Where are your suggestions for a cure? There are many routes to a cure. What is your suggested route?
