Based on the study, you sound like you would be autoimmune if you are a Type 1 onset at age 20.

Whether there is autoimmunity or not would (I think) be a important focal point in INGAP human trials. Yeah I know that's only in our dreams at this point.

There would be a difference in treatment in autoimmune vs. nonautoimmune. If islet proliferation were to become a success, you could replace your "own" islets, and not need immunoprotection, for example.

When/if some cures may have toxicity issues to consider, you would not want to overkill the treatment (autoimmune protection) if it was not an issue.
