Donna,

A low C-peptide level indicates low internal insulin production. In many cases, a person with type 2 diabetes will actually have above-normal insulin production, but will still have elevated blood glucose because his or her body cells have insulin resistance. I understand that with many type 2 diabetics, years of overworking the islets in an attempt to overcome the insulin resistance eventually leads to islet-cell destruction, and C-peptide levels will drop off.

Having said all that, I cannot pretend to properly interpret your diabetes or C-petide levels. I also have to plead total ignorance as to the relationship between blood glucose levels and hormones other than insulin.

Have you searched Medline? It is a goldmine of information on these kinds of issues.

Al
