Dr. Peck is associated with Ixion. Ixion is taking a unique approach to solving the supply problems for islets. As the article said they take duct cells and proliferate them and then magically, with their potion, transmute them into islets. It seems the duct cells are a lot easier to multiply and remain able to become islets. They still potentially will have to overcome the autoimmune reaction. It is not clear if the immune system will react the same way to their cells. See the like for the Ixion web page.
