The press release coincides with the website finally being updated: www.animascorp.com. I cut & pasted the excerpt below from their website, which addresses the availability of infusion sets. This company is EXTREMELY responsive to consumer input - in fact, now that it's official, I can reveal that Melissa and I were "interviewed" in our home over 2 yrs ago for our "wish list" of features, regarding her Minimed pump. When we actually visited the Animas facilities this summer & "played" with the prototype pump, we found ourselves saying" gee, that's one of the features we wanted to see", completely forgetting about our input!!! From their hiring the "best and the brightest" local diabetes experts, to their attention to detail, Animas certainly appears to be going about this in an admirable fashion. The CEO, Dr. Kathy Crothall, has a proven successful track record as an astute businesswoman who recognizes a "need" and pursues the necessary means to achieve it. Here's the quote:
"The Animas R-1000 Pump is just the beginning. We recognize that there is considerable room for improvement in all aspects of diabetes management, ranging from infusion sets and variability in insulin absorption, to continuous monitoring of blood glucose. To this end, Animas is continuing to devote its resources to the development of improved infusion sets, alternative insulin delivery sites, and its novel implantable sensor."
