Dear Ellen,
I would appreciate your opinion on a matter that has been bothering me. I am told there is a difference between the American and Canadian personality but find it difficult to think that a doctor who, as all the papers this week have reported, is about to cure diabetes for 20 or so people this summer, would stoop so low as to call people useless idiots. We all deal with difficult people in our lives, but most would never publicly called them such names. Dr. Ricardo was responding to a simple question from Therese. Why would he feel such an assault on TIF was necessary? "People crying because they have read messages posted at TIF"? What's that all about? Am I missing something here? Is it possible that other people have access to Dr. Ricardo's email? I don't understand why Dr. Ricardo would take the time to write such a vindictive note. If you think he wrote this email himself, perhaps there is background information you could give me that would help me understand his bitter response.
I can't even imagine a doctor giving the answer he supposedly gave to "Pissed". Anyone could write Camillo Ricordi in the name section of this board and say anything he/she wants. Is there any way you can find out if these statements that are making me feel such negativity towards an apparently brilliant researcher are true?
If they are, that is possibly why colleagues didn't want him responding publicly.
Sue
P.S. I wonder if I am now a useless idiot because I have asked such questions.
