This sounds like a variation on the Atkin's Diet Plan, and I believe there have been several others along the same lines. I tried the Atkins concept for about a week. I felt lousy (though I didn't become more than slightly ketotic in spite of virtually eliminating carb's from my diet) partly because the diet contains little fiber and also I believe these foods are just harder to digest. I think part of the reason for the weight loss is that if you can stick with it, you feel so satiated by the large quantities of fat and protein that you eat less calories overall. I think your observations about ketosis are correct. The notion is that the diet achieves "controlled" ketosis which "doesn't get out of hand." From the patients and other people I have seen, a very low fat diet seems to achieve the best results. People seem to look better and feel better.
