Best wishes to everyone out there! I hope you are having a great Christmas, Ramadhan, Channukah, Kwanzaa, Winter Solstice, Laylat al-Bara'a, Beethoven's Birthday, Haggisfest*, and all the other celebratory events that happen around this time of year.

I know I have been delinquent lately in getting reports posted, especially the report on the extraordinary Xenotransplantation Conference in Boston in December. By way of summary, I am happy to say that over the past year xenotransplantation has gone from a fringe activity threatened with a moratorium, to an emerging branch of mainstream medicine. The discussions this year were almost all on how best to accomplish successful tissue and organ transplantation, and not on whether the Luddites should ban it.

Once again, have a wonderful holiday season, and forget about islets for a day or two (but no longer!).

Al
