I've been out of the loop for awhile - whatever happened to the "News Flash" about the NIDDK and the NIH getting together and formally supporting an intramural, fully funded transplant program to establish tolerance for transplanted tissues and curing diabetes with islets? The original report said trials were expected to begin in six months or less (this was in October of this year - 1998). I got in touch with the NIH and was told they would post it on their web site (info about being a part of the trials). Did I miss it somehow - or has this gone from six months to 24 months? I would appreciate any up-to-date info anyone has. Thanks!
