Two Comments:
First, I wonder if Alberto Hayek who spoke in St. Louis at the Insulin Free World Foundation seminar and is from La Jolla is involved with this group.
Second, If I understood Dr. Vinik correctly on Melissa's Diabetes Chat, everyone (even long term diabetics) continue to have progenitor (stem) cells lining their pancreases and if INGAP is found to be clinically useful for causing these cells to differentiate, the supply of islets (and thus the need for large quantities of donor islets - proliferated or not) would be a moot point. Fantasy or fiction? Who knows, but it's a happy thought.
