I was the Ball and Barbara talked at length about diabetes and told the truth. It was wonderful. I sat there mesmerized and even Hollywood (which is notoriously a rude audience at things like these) heard Barbara. It was very rewarding to have this community which is so generous contribute and "think" about diabetes for one night.
The center does excellent work. George Eisenbarth is one of the leaders in diabetes research. They have received funding from the NIH and JDF many times in the past.
I am not as familiar with all their work but I have heard that there is work in islet transplantaion there as well. Sonia Cooper who sometimes frequents this forum knows more about BDC than I. Perhaps she will step in here and speak. But I wanted you to know that this was a rewarding evening and a noteworthy effort.
