When people say things like diabetes is "no big deal", they think they are being brave. Bravery should have nothing to do with it. Or, they are simply tired of all the stupid questions and find a blanket statement like"its no big deal" an easy way to end a conversation.

Diabetes probably IS the best thing to happen to Miss America. She probably would not have her title without it.The judges seem to like the 'poster child of the year" thing. Remember, last year's winner was the AIDS advocate, the year before was the deaf Miss America(see a trend here??)

I have to agree with Marina..the enemy is diabetes, and each agency has their little"niche". My only problem with the ADA is that they promote themselves as searching for a cure when they are really more of an advocacy agency. Their lack of honesty may raise funds for the work they do, but its still false advertising at its best..I don't think they'd be raising all that money if people undersood their donations weren't going to cure Diabetes.
