I, too, like Joe's passion and drive, and I told him so. I suggested he work for JDF to help with a cure. I subscribe to items such as the ADA Advocate Alerts because I want to know what's going on, and I call people because I have questions, and I write people because I want to affect change. But, I don't have to like everything I see because the word "diabetes" is associated with it. I think Joe knows and understands where I'm coming from. Maybe I'm too conservative and old-fashioned, but I just don't feel that folks should say they are pushing for a cure when that is not their "market." Based on knowing what I now know, I'm OK with the ADA except when it comes to their slogan. As long as I know where the money is - and isn't - going I can make an educated decision about where to send mine. Truth is what I most need and want.
