Someone who posted earlier to this forum (I forget who) described ADA as "a trade union for diabetes doctors and researchers". It seems the mythology they are spreading is entirely consistent with that role. Also, their unrelenting demands for more NIH money going to diabetes with no direction as to how it should be spent is consistent with such a role. Would you expect the United Auto Workers to fight for better cars at lower prices? Of course not; they will lobby for their workers and nothing else. It is up to the consumers to demand a better product.
At least the UAW is honest about whom it represents.
