Why am I not surprised? I don't think this is a blow to islet transplantation. The combination of VivoRx and Dr. Soon-Shiong produced some of the most contradictory and inconsistent messages about clinical trials of islets, and in my opinion greatly damaged the credibility of the whole enterprise. I cannot say who was responsible for the unfulfilled commitments or the unverifiable claims, but simply by terminating such activity, we can only benefit.
