you are correct i did speak to Bill Schmidt at JDF, a very nice and informative fellow. Unfortunately the wheels hadn't begun turning yet when i wrote the e-mail to the forum about the show on the diabetic young man. Bill was quite upset by the Dr. Gorden news release and assured me that they (JDF) did not support it and were formulating a response to it. He also stated that they were planning a series of hard hitting spots aimed at getting the serious and sometimes deadly nature of type 1 diabetes to the public. Jane Adams also a type 1 diabetic is very helpful as well with suggestions as to how to address this new campaign by Dr. Gorden. I still have not heard from Joe LaMountain at ADA even though I tried to reach him for his comments on the Gorden release. It is interesting that Dr. Gorden is claiming their support for this initiative which is as you so accurately stated Al nothing more than a rehashing of the DCCT report. at a time when both JDF and ADA have been making efforts to change their messages to seeking a cure and that insulin is not a cure. It seems that "Insulin is not a cure" will be the new battle cry of JDF but you can check that with jane and Bill. JDF was on the steering committee which worked with Dr. Gorden but the finished product was according to Bill Schmidt far from what the original message was suppose to be. I suppose that tagged them as being in support of the "Control your diabetes for life" fiasco. Again shame on me for not being certain of Bills name but I have been writing like a fiend to everyone I can think of expressing my concern and outrage over this nonsense. Thanks for the help on who is who at JDF and i have made a note not to forget. It always helps to get the name right. Like Gordon and Gorden right Al.
