Mark,
I understand what you're saying. However, you have used far more self-control and looked after yourself far better than any other person you or I know who does not have diabetes. We spend our lives looking after ourselves. Do you know any other person who eats everything in right amounts, exercises just the right amount and is able to avoid all stress in his or her life? Of course not. That's why God created pancreas' to control sugar levels. We were never meant to be able to do it. I know how much work I put into 'looking after myself' and I will never accept guilt if my organs stop functioning properly. As long as WE can be blamed for not being GOOD little people with diabetes, then there's no urgency for finding a cure. Just pump more money into education for us, and somehow we'll develop self-control and everything will be fine. We all know that's not true. My control was terrible when I was a teenager. Yet, I've managed to have three healthy kids and have no complications after 30 years. Why? I have no idea. But I do know that you are not to blame for the problems you are having right now. Your diabetes is what is causing you all the problems, and it is the diabetes that must be cured. Diabetes causes us to have to work hard just to function relatively normally on a day to day basis, something other people take for granted. It's ridiculous to blame ourselves when our bodies reaction the way they were created to react when sugar levels aren't perfect all the time. Only functioning islet cells can keep us perfectly healthy. Let's keep working to make sure we all soon get a few million (or whatever) pumped into us.
