I think the point Renee was trying to make - is that
JDF is (and has long been) recognized as an efficient
organization that channels the money it raises into the
programs (Research and Education) that it advertises support
for... The funds are not used for bloated staff salaries
and perks... and oh by the way - many of those on staff give back as volunteers an donors as well...
The question of concern then appears to be - what the exact
make up of those programs should be... right now there is
a review process in place that utilizes researchers to a
great degree (as well as lay volunteers) to determine program
content and direction... so if we do not think it is appropriate for the researchers to be the ones helping to decide where the $$$ go... then we should propose an alternate plan (this may have been done? but I haven't seen it, or at least i did not recognize it as such...) if not researchers, then who... the staff of smart money - not really...??
We all know its easy to tear down and criticize - but unless
we contribute a viable alternative... we won't get far...
And for what it's worth... (opening my self up for a few
flames) I think the current process, which appears to be
turning focus in the direction we want, is a process that
works... mayhaps slowly - but it works... (view that in
comparison to a process that moves and changes fast, but
doesn't work)
Any suggestions...??
Thanx,
Charlie
