Dr. Bachrach-
I understand what you're saying, that this device would certainly be an improvement over what we have. But I believe that investing in this type of technology would be a tremendous waste of money, being that we have access to a perfect NATURAL glucose sensor self-contained within a perfect NATURAL pump, with millions of years of evolutionary technology behind it, called an Islet cell. I think diverting any money AWAY from Islet-cell encapsulations towards a device that, at best, minimally mimics what the Islet cell is BORN to do, is a shameful waste of finance. It's like trying to re-invent the wheel. Perhaps I'm being a bit fanatical, but I think that Islet cell financing should be, with regards to this artificial glucose monitor/insulin pump, funded exclusively.
