I am wondering if what Dr. Golub is saying is that science should focus "on preventing the symptoms..(ie. preventing the disease from ever happening) rather than the cure.. I would think that was a terrific idea to prevent diabetes from ever happening in the first place and stop concentrating on those who already have it if only my child wasn't one of those that DOES already have diabetes.. Of course, I am sure he is thinking that if we prevent diabetes from ever occuring, the ones that already have it will eventually die off and and BINGO!! no more diabetes!! A great idea for those not in the dying off group.. This is not my hope for Stephanie's future..
