Friday:
Reports from the breakout sessions . The chairs gave a brief synopsis of the preceding days meetings. They highlighted the successes in their fields and attempted to define the challenges they have found and the opportunites for further research.
The breakout sessions ran simultaneously so I was only able to physically attend one session. I chose therapy as this was where islet transplantation was discussed. The therapy discussions were conducted by James Gavin, David Nathan,Susan Bonner Weir,Alan Delameter,Judith Frakin,David Geough, Alberto Hayal,Adam Heller,Barbara Kahn,Derek LeRoith,David Marrero,James Mills, Ali Naji, Chris Newgard,Kwame Osei, Camillo Ricordi, Paul Robertson, Lester Salans, Christopher Saudek, Donald Steiner, David Sharp (absent), Anthony Sun, David Sutherland,Irving Weissman,George Wilson,Rena Wing, and Bernard Zinman.
I have additional lists of participants for the other sessions etc. and I have notes that I could reference for questions but to attempt to cover the meetings in a forum message would not do justice to the researchers or the meetings.
I hope this helps a little. Let me know if I can help more.
