For those still interested in pursuing a media contact for a piece on diabetes, you might consider Ms. Chase. She was diagnosed with Type I over twenty years ago at age 35. She disclosed her diabetes "on the air" on a 20/20 segment about eight years ago and suffered some discrimination as a result.
Certainly, she demonstrated courage on 20/20 and may be interested to report on the pros and con of islet transplantation and the low level of government funding directed toward this research.
By the way, JDF board member Sandra Silvestri has made a remark on this forum so this site is being studied by the JDF.
