I, too, was deeply moved by your frank description of your experience with diabetes. Your candor was refreshing and, believe it or not, reassuring. I encourage my newly-diagnosed teenage daughter to be in touch with her outrage and vocal about her disgust with how this illness has changed her life. You hit the nail on the head when you spoke to the grieving that must take place before one can move forward with diabetes. Her moving forward will mean vigilant self-care and passionate agitation for a CURE. I will share your article with her high school principal who said, "I've dealt with all kinds of serious illnesses and disabilities. Don't you think I know how to deal with a little finger prick?" (In the interest of civility, I restrained my response!)Again, thank you Deanna for your effort. Believe me, you've had an impact in my experience with D. Will look forward to your insights on this website and will check out your site, as well. Hang in there!
