Fear not Sarah,re confusing Type 1 with type 2,
in those Australian interviews, lasting well over 30 minutes, yet in final broadcast, yielding a mere two minutes and 55 seconds, the mammoth distinction between type one and two diabetes , (hile not broadcast) was in fact well and truly made.
If you had seen the entire footage, you would have been proud of us on this score.
I never miss an opportunity to tell how our affliction was not due to any (avoidable)lifestyle choices (if only )but just dumped on us out of the blue.
... believe me on this,
...
the impact of interviews is on the editing room floor.
Even though not reported, The TV cameras and microphones were well and truly informed about the impending and virtually certain horrors relating to life and death with type 1 diabetes .
Those Channel 10 Sydney interviews were to a degree "sanitised", however credit must still go to Amber Muir, the extremely competent TV journalist involved, she didnt overly sensationalise or negatively and dishonestly slant the story, a situation I have previously experienced on more than one occasion, here in New Zealand, with certain locally (N.Z.government funded TV )and even supposedly independent pblications.(Evidence available if required).
Let us hope and pray this behaviour will remain in the past....and that the truth of this situation will be reported with journalistic integrity.
We shall overcome!(I do believe)
