Kids will be kids, but to Andra, I think there are some great ideas here: I would definitely talk to the school (start with the school nurse, but don't hesitate to talk to the teacher or principal). They do *not* take this stuff lightly these days (teasing, bullying, discrimination), and would very likely be willing to allow some class time to talk about the disease and clear up misconceptions; maybe they will let your son do it or maybe they will just work it into the Health curriculum, but it can't hurt.

I certainly don't advocate being a "rescue helicopter" parent; Marie makes a good point that kids do have to face some of this growing up, and hopefully they become stronger and kinder themselves from it. But again in this case, I think a polite expression of your concerns to the school is justified, and should be well received.
