G has had similar situations. (Thankfully, not too many.) Because of this he's decided that the whole world needed an education. The school nurse told me that he's his own best advocate and has taught *her* quite a bit about the disease. All of his teachers have allowed him class time to teach the other kids about diabetes.
Anda, I know it hurts when our kids hurt, but all this crap (for lack of a better word) really does make them stronger. Just appeal to their sense of humor and let them know that they're safe and accepted at home. They'll be alright!
By the way, he's much happier now! :-) We called MiniMed and got samples of a different type of set which works better for lean people. His BG's improved right away and there was NO pain with the new sets! Just knowing that he had options changed his whole outlook.
Hang in there. I really believe that those little piggy islets are our best hope. I know it's a slow and painful wait, but our little ones WILL make it!
In the meantime, we'll be strong for them and each other. We're not going through this alone. You're a wonderful mother and I know that your boy is becoming a wonderful young man! :-)
