I would settle for SmartCells today and forgo any future treatments if it was available. If I could be sure that benfotiamine stopped all complications, I would trade it for any future cures, today. But to convince an uneducated public to permit xenotransplantation; they want to see diabetics off the needle. That's all they understand. If LCT would have announced that all four patients no longer needed insulin, game over.
One more thing I would settle for, a glucose monitor that still uses blood from a finger prick, but uses no consumables.
