Another factor is that some people may be more or less capable of regeneration than others, due to factors like remaining beta cell mass. We can almost bet that there will be at least some T1's who will need an outside beta cell source. However, I feel like most T1's would benefit from this if autoimmunity was stopped, as Christian pointed out.
